ARticulate
ARticulate is a mobile application that allows museum visitors to annotate works of art in augmented reality and share their creations with other museumgoers. The app identifies paintings when the phone camera is pointed at them and maps screen inputs to 3D space to draw users’ designs in augmented reality.
This prototype version was developed for MIT’s Extending the Museum (CMS.855) class. I was the sole developer and worked alongside a UI/UX designer and project manager/researcher. During development we were in contact with several staff members from local museums, primarily Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, and hope to have the app used in a pilot program in one of these museums in a future run of the course.
